Android will show one confirmation before installing.
Downloaded — now open it
The file is already on your phone. Chrome will not install it by itself.
- Tap Open Downloads below (or swipe down and tap the smartgate.apk notification).
- Tap the file smartgate.apk.
- If Android asks, allow Install unknown apps for Chrome, then tap Install.
- If Play Protect says “app scan recommended”, tap More details → Install anyway.
Finish the install
The download has started. When the notification appears, tap it and choose Install. If Chrome asks to allow installs from this site, tap Allow — it is a one-time Android setting for apps outside the Play Store.
What it does
- Watches WhatsApp, Telegram, Downloads and the screenshot folder.
- Encrypts each new file into a private vault on the phone, then removes the original.
- Takes screenshots straight into the vault, so they never reach the gallery.
- Browse, open or delete anything in the vault from inside the app.

After installing
- Open SmartGate Vault from your app drawer.
- Allow files → allow “All files and media”.
- Start. The line under the title turns to Protection: on.
